21 January - Océ has received two 2009 BERTL's Best® designations. The Océ Arizona® 350 XT UV flatbed printer was named "Best Innovative Technology for Wide Format" and the Océ PlotWave 300 system was named "Best Eco-Friendly Wide Format Printer" by BERTL. These awards acknowledge the worldwide success of Océ's innovative power in product and technology development.

18 January – Océ and Prism Software Corporation announced the availability of Prism Software’s deskSystem™ and deskForm™ applications. Both products build upon Océ’s commitment to provide smart document workflow solutions to customers and are sourced through Océ’s Partner Program. They join Prism deskRecord™ software as PC-based applications that provide document personalization, workflow customization and document archival and retrieval solutions.
18 January – IBM announces “Project Vulcan” - IBM Research and Lotus are joining forces to deliver new innovation on the Web through the creation of LotusLive Labs -- a proving ground for advances in business-driven collaboration in the cloud. LotusLive delivers integrated email, Web conferencing, social networking and collaboration services.
20 January - Xerox announced the acquisition of Irish Business Systems (IBS), for approximately $31 million, expanding its reach into the small and mid-sized business (SMB) market in Ireland. IBS, with eight offices located throughout Ireland, is a managed print services provider and the largest independent supplier of digital imaging and printing solutions in Ireland. By acquiring Irish Business Systems, Xerox will increase its sales force and gain access to more than 11,000 new customers in Ireland. Over the last two years, Xerox has expanded its distribution to the SMB market and managed print services delivery capability through acquisitions and broadened relationships with resellers and concessionaires in Europe.

21 January - GMC Software Technology announced the promotion of Patrick Riesch to General Manager of the Effretikon office in Switzerland. Riesch joined GMC Software in February of 2009 as Manager of the office’s professional services organization and as of January 2010 will assume the role as General Manager overseeing sales, support and professional services functions. Riesch spent almost 15 years in the electronic document industry. Following university, he spent a number of years with Xeikon and in 1999 joined Xerox, first as a Presales Consultant for color products and in 2002, as a Manager of Sales and Marketing. Patrick Riesch has a degree in Polygraphic Engineering as well executive Master’s Degree in International Marketing.
19 January – Inspectron announced that David Day is bringing his 30 plus years experience in the document business back to Inspectron. David’s experience in zero defect mail, document composition, print and mail, combined with his knowledge of regulatory issues – specifically compliance, plays well with the expansion of Inspectron in the USA marketplace. His previous experience includes such companies as Production Intelligence Consultant, Pitney Bowes; Manager Software Sales, Sefas; Product Manager, Group 1 Software and Major Accounts Manager, Inspectron; Software Sales Support, Xerox and others. David’s expertise in designing the ADF has helped companies large and small, both private sector and government build Automated Document Factories and insure document integrity and regulatory compliance.
15 January - Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, announced that Todd Blumsack has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Sales for Xeikon North America. Previously, Blumsack has been Xeikon's Director of Sales, North America since September 2008. A 19-year veteran of sales and marketing, Blumsack has extensive experience in sales management processes, lead generation campaigns, hiring and training sales organizations and building sales promotions. In his new role, Blumsack will be responsible for managing the sales team, and leading the sales support team, which is comprised of workflow and color management specialists. He will report directly to Michael V. Ring, President of Punch Graphix Americas, Inc. Prior to joining Xeikon, Blumsack spearheaded the marketing efforts for the retail and bulk business units as Director of Marketing for Weyerhaeuser Company and built sales and marketing programs as Director of Marketing-Commercial Printing for Eastman Kodak Company.
